The provincial government of Sultan Kudarat urged its constituents working in the Middle East to remain vigilant and assured them of assistance following the recent attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu called on residents to strictly follow advisories from Philippine embassies and consulates in the affected regions, emphasizing that their safety is the government’s top priority. He encouraged them to avoid conflict areas and maintain open communication with their families and authorities. Mangudadatu assured that the provincial government is closely monitoring developments, especially concerning residents from Sultan Kudarat. Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. also urged constituents to pray for the safety of Filipinos in the Middle East, calling for dialogue and understanding. The attack, reportedly triggered by failed nuclear talks, led to retaliatory strikes by Iran targeting Israel and US military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. Sultan Kudarat’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager, Jonix Paniagua, revealed that relatives of two OFWs sought assistance early Sunday, and the provincial government is prepared to coordinate with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to provide support, including ₱10,000 cash aid for distressed OFWs. Many residents from Lutayan town, a Muslim-dominated area in Sultan Kudarat, have relatives working as domestic helpers in the Middle East.
