A landslide in Quezon town, Bukidnon on October 18 caused a portion of the highway to collapse, resulting in economic losses of P187 million daily, or a 1.19-percent drop in Northern Mindanao’s gross domestic regional product. The road, which links Bukidnon and the rest of Northern Mindanao to Davao Region, remains impassable to vehicles, with only small and light vehicles able to pass through a diversion road. The Department of Economy, Planning and Development estimates that if the disruption continues until December 31, economic losses will reach P14.07 billion, and P48.19 billion if the repair is not completed by June 30, 2026. The collapse has also caused increased fuel and logistical costs, likely driving up consumer prices, and substantial losses for local vegetable vendors and farmers due to double handling, payment to porters, and damage, with daily losses estimated at P55 million for high-value vegetables like carrots and lettuce.
