Police urged to swiftly solve journalist’s killing: The Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) chapter in Butuan City has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the killing of Gerry Campos, a broadcaster-turned-municipal councilor, who was stabbed to death in Marihatag town, Surigao del Sur, last Saturday, December 6. Campos was fatally stabbed near a gasoline station by a 42-year-old suspect, later arrested by police. The motive remains unclear. The KBP-Butuan City Chapter expressed deep sadness and outrage, calling Campos’ death a tragic loss to his family, the media community, and the public he served. Campos previously served as director of the Radio Mindanao Network and manager of Radyo Serbato in Butuan City. Shooting incident causes 6-hour blackout: A stray bullet from a shooting incident hit a power transmission line, causing a six-hour blackout across Cotabato City and parts of Maguindanao del Norte Sunday night, December 7. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines restored electricity by 12:57 am Monday. Police reported the bullet was fired by unidentified gunmen who also killed a security guard near an NGCP facility in Barangay Crossing Simuay town. Terrorist killed in Satan village: Army soldiers killed Ustadz Mohammad Usman Solaiman, an alleged leader of the Dawlah Islamiya-Hassan Group, in a clash in Maguindanao del Sur Sunday, December 7. Brigadier General Edgar Catu, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, stated Solaiman, reportedly a bomb expert, was killed in Barangay Satan, Shariff Aguak town. Solaiman was a relative of Abdul Basit Usman, a well-known terrorist killed by soldiers in 2015.
