BARMM placed under ‘white code’ as floods hit the region
The Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has raised the “white code” in flood-affected areas.
A white code directs health workers to closely monitor water-borne diseases in flooded areas.
Health Minister Kadil Sinolinding Jr. said hospitals should organize medical teams and preposition essential supplies such as medicines, hygiene kits and temporary shelters in case there is a flare up of water-borne diseases in flood-affected areas.
The BARMM-Office of Civil Defense said the rains brought by the southwest monsoon have displaced 120,674 residents in the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur and Lanao del Sur.
3 armed men killed in South Cotabato clash
Three armed men were killed while a police officer was injured after a clash in Polomolok, South Cotabato Tuesday afternoon.
Major Johnny Rick Medel, Polomolok police chief, identified the slain armed men as Romeo Romano, 51, Harold Pasaquian, 40 and Yok Dajay, 30, all residents of Antipas , North Cotabato.
He said a fourth suspect, Nestor Espelon, 56, was arrested and detained.
Medel said that a shootout erupted when policemen, backed by Army soldiers, went to a 10-hectare land the armed group was allegedly guarding in Barangay Palkan, Polomolok town.
Authorities still clueless on who shot PH eagle ‘Mangayon’
The suspect who fired the fatal “jolen” gunshot that killed Philippine Eagle “Mangayon” in Davao de Oro last July 8 is still not known.
Maria Mercedes Dumagan, Department of Environment and Natural Resource – Region 11 director, said that various government law enforcement agencies launched a joint effort to determine and find the suspect, but to no avail.
Mangayon, a young male eagle, died of severe blood loss after sustaining a gunshot wound from an improvised “jolen” gun in Compostela Valley, Davao de Oro.
