6 Army engineering battalions harnessed for combat
CAGAYAN DE ORO (MindaNews / 06 March) – The Philippine Army activated six reorganized engineering battalions into combat units as the Armed Forces of the Philippines shifts its attention from internal to territorial defense.
The engineering battalions are currently deployed around Marawi City, helping in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure and relocation sites.
“We strengthen the sustainment forces including our combat engineering capability to support our impending shift from internal defense to external defense mode,” AFP chief engineer Major General Proceso Rebancos said.
Rebancos led the ceremonies for the transformation of the engineering battalions in Baloi, Lanao del Norte on March 1.

Camiguin prepares for ‘Panaad 2024’
CAGAYAN DE ORO (MindaNews / 06 March) – The local government of Camiguin has started installing and repainting wooden crosses around the island in anticipation of the influx of devotees to the “Panaad 2024” during the Holy Week.
Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo also directed the mayors to set up drinking water booths along the 64-kilometer route.
Thousands of devotees are expected to come to Camiguin to join the Stations of the Cross around the island.
Camiguin provincial tourism staff Ruthie Marapao said the devotees would stop at 14 Stations of the Cross situated in the island’s five towns.

Road projects completed in two Zambo Norte towns
CAGAYAN DE ORO (MindaNews / 06 March) – The Department of Public Works and Highways said it has completed multi-million road projects and farm-to-market road systems in Labason and Liloy towns in Zamboanga del Norte.
DPWH Director Cayamombao Dia said one of the completed projects is the P12.9-million concrete road in Barangay Lapitan, Labason.
Aside from Barangay Lapitan, the DPWH said it had also completed the 758-meter farm-to-market road in Barangay Panabang, Liloy.
