Mindanao Chorale Triumphs in Inaugural KORO Choral Competition

F’LOMOLOK Choristers, a Mindanao-based choral group, won the first-ever championship title in the Adult Choir Category of the KORO: National Choral Competition, held at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila on Aug. 2, 2025. Composed of 16 singers and led by conductor Adan Aeron Hermino, the community youth choir from Polomolok National High School impressed judges and audiences with stirring renditions of “Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord,” Gary Granada’s “Bahay,” and Arwin Tan’s “Mga Wata sa Ripag.” Despite being the smallest ensemble, they stood out for their artistry, discipline, and heartfelt expression of faith and cultural identity. The group is committed to inspiring others through choral music and Bible studies, and actively participates in events organized by the Polomolok LGU and Barangay Cannery Site. Joining them on the winners’ podium were Adamson University Chorale (First Runner-Up) and Kalinaw Chorale of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (Second Runner-Up). All finalists received trophies sculpted by Filipino multimedia artist TOYM Imao and cash prizes: P150,000 for the champion, P100,000 for first runner-up, P75,000 for second runner-up, and P20,000 each for other finalists. The night ended with a rousing encore from the F’lomolok Choristers — celebrating unity, diversity, and excellence in Filipino choral music.
