Meetings Held to Tackle Road Issues in Cagayan de Oro

Stakeholders in Cagayan de Oro City have joined forces to address the issues surrounding the damage to a road in Barangay Canitoan, where a reblocking project is ongoing. Residents have expressed concerns over the road’s condition, which has caused inconvenience and hazards to motorists and residents due to its muddy and potholed surface, worsened by frequent rainfall. The situation has led to several motorcycle accidents, prompting residents to express frustration over the project’s delay. In response, barangay officials, representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Engineering Office, the City Engineering Office, contractors, and affected residents met to discuss the matter. The DPWH has acknowledged the concerns and is exploring alternative solutions, including filling the area with gravel to make it passable for motorists. While the agency has two unfinished projects in the area, which started in May and April 2025, they have assured that they will work to address the residents’ concerns and find a lasting solution to the problem.
