CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Korean media practitioners, including journalists, vloggers, bloggers, and travel and tour operators, arrived Tuesday, July 8, for a familiarization tour of Northern Mindanao, dubbed the “Korean Media Fam Tour,” scheduled from 8 to 12 July 2025. Misamis Oriental Acting Provincial Tourism Officer Maryden Ocut told DAILY TRIBUNE on Monday, 7 July, that “the Korean delegation, composed of 11 media personalities and tour operators, are visiting and exploring different destinations in Northern Mindanao, as the first group of Koreans who will be arriving for the big event in September, this year.” This is in preparation for the hosting of a big event in Northern Mindanao in September, which is the ‘K Festival,’ that will be showcasing the culture of Korea here in Mindanao, the very first time for K Festival to be held here. K Festival will be hosted by Cagayan de Oro City, an event usually held in Manila and Cebu, initiated annually by the Korean Embassy. In collaboration with the local government units of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, and Misamis Oriental, the Korean visitors will tour various destinations across Northern Mindanao, including a mangrove tour, snorkeling, jetskiing, white-water rafting, a Del Monte golf tour, a visit to Dahilayan Adventure Park in Bukidnon, zip lining, an Alpine Coaster ride, a Del Monte Pineapple Farm visit, and a Claveria day tour. The visit aims to strengthen tourism in Misamis Oriental, with Ocut welcoming the Korean delegation on behalf of the new provincial governor, Juliette Tiu Uy, and expressing gratitude to stakeholders for bringing Northern Mindanao tourism to greater heights.
