The Department of Tourism XI held a training program on January 15, 2026, to refresh accredited tour guides and students on the Philippine Eagle Center’s history, conservation advocacies, and ecotourism. The refresher training enlightened participants with important facts discussed by keynote speakers from the Philippine Eagle Foundation, including new information about the center, ecology and genomic studies, ongoing conservation efforts, and other crucial subjects for the eagle’s survival. As an apex predator and guardian of biodiversity, the Philippine Eagle plays a significant role in elevating tourism and drawing adventurers to Mindanao’s biodiversity. The Philippine Eagle Foundation’s efforts in forest rehabilitation and collaborations ensure the safety of the endangered species, restoring their habitat and allowing them to thrive. The training featured lectures on conservation breeding, biosecurity, and animal enrichment, and the launch of a field guide, “Guide to the Philippines Eagle Center: 30 Experiences to Love,” which introduces the center as a wildlife facility, living classroom, and forest sanctuary to save the national bird, offering readers 30 unique experiences to spark curiosity and inspire pride in the Philippines’ natural heritage.
