The second most wanted criminal in Sulu, Alganer Dahim alias “Wangbu,” was killed in an encounter by a joint Army and police team in Maimbung town last weekend. Maj. Gen. Leonardo Peña, commander of the Army’s 11th Infantry Division, identified Dahim as the suspect in the May 2009 killing of Col. Julasirim Kasim, the municipal police director at the time. Four Army soldiers were wounded when Dahim lobbed a grenade at the troops in Barangay Kapok Punggol. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, following violent incidents that left two people dead Monday night. Police identified the victims as Bai Rania Guerra, killed by gunmen in Barangay Poblacion Dalican, and 25-year-old farmer Rasid Salinogan, shot in Barangay Tamontaka. In Zamboanga City, two alleged drug dealers, identified as “Algisno,” 34, and “Bossing,” 36, were arrested during a sting operation last Sunday. Authorities seized ₱3.4 million worth of shabu and recovered 299 pieces of counterfeit money used in the operation in Cabatangan Village.
