DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 21 December)—The body of a 55-year-old man was found floating in Davao River around 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday after he was reported missing for almost two weeks, police authorities said.
Capt. Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said that the personnel of the San Pedro Police station responded to a call from a certain Joshua A. Badilla, a passenger boat crew, who sighted the body.
She said Badilla pulled the body towards the shore in Riverside, Purok 7, Magallanes Street in Barangay 1-A, this city.
Tuazon said that authorities confirmed the identity of the body as Roy Godoy Alvaro after his wife, Emmie S. Alvaro, visited the site and identified the remains as those of her missing husband.
She said that the wife reported to police that her husband went missing last December 9 when they could no longer find him after cleaning the back portion of their house at Awhag Riverside, Bacaca, Barangay 19-B.
Tuazon said Alvaro’s wife suspected that her husband might have slipped into the river as they could no longer find him aside from the cleaning materials that were left behind. (Antonio L. Colina IV / MindaNews)
