Three young athletes from Agusan del Sur excelled in international gymnastics and dancesport competitions in Malaysia and Cebu, respectively, this month. Alexa Rean Ticao Fuentes, an 11-year-old from Pulang-Lupa, Trento, secured three silver medals at the Dream Cup 2025 – 4th International Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, held from August 21 to 24. Representing Trento West Central Elementary School and Agusan del Sur, Fuentes competed in the Under-11 Advanced Category, placing second in freehand, hoop, and rope events. Her coach, Joanna Mae N. Briñas, emphasized the significance of their first international competition, stating it was a chance to assess their eight months of rigorous training. Fuentes attributed her success to passion and determination, highlighting that winning is not solely based on skill but also on commitment. Meanwhile, the Bayugan City DanceSport Team from Bayugan National Comprehensive High School achieved multiple medals at the World Dance Sport Federation Cebu Open 2025, held from August 22 to 24 at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City. The duo of Jabez Dazrik Tadem and Christine Mae Burlat earned four gold medals in Junior 1A Latin, Junior 1B Latin, Inter High School B Latin, and Inter High School C Latin, along with a silver medal in Junior Latin Open. Other team members, including Aaron Khentsly Patricio, Princess Careyelle Alico, Krishel Mae Corbita, and Alex Jamero, also advanced to advanced rounds in their respective categories. Coach Clint Alimpoos, along with trainers Carol Alico and Japheth Neil Villacorta, praised the team’s discipline and competitiveness, affirming Bayugan City’s growing prominence in national dancesport.
