A woman was arrested for stealing brand new cars allegedly using different names and fake documents for her modus operandi.
According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras,” alias “Evelyn” was cornered and arrested by operatives at a cafe.
“Nakipag-ugnayan po sa atin ang isang financial corporation, meron umanong nakikipag-transact sa kanila gamit ang ibat ibang pangalan. Sa pangatlong transaction niya, duon na namin in-entrap,” said Police Major Renato Seguban, commander of Pasig Police Sub-station 1.
(A financial corporation has contacted us, saying that someone is transacting with them using different names. In her third transaction, we entrapped her there.)
According to the Pasig Police, fake documents were used by the suspect to steal several passenger vans, sedans, and other vehicles.
“Nagpapakita siya ng iba’t-ibang ID, parang totoo naman, ‘yung ID, hindi naman agad na verify ng isang corporation, kaya malaya siyang nakagawa ng ganoon,” said Seguban.
(She presents different IDs, they look real, but they were not immediately verified by the corporation, so she was able to do that freely.)
Once the vehicle is released, the suspect disappears and no longer pays the monthly amortization.
After this, she will request for re-approval to loan for another vehicle using fake requirements again.
“The case was filed under Article 315, estafa… concealing through fictitious names,” said Police Brigadier General Wilson Asueta of the Eastern Police District.
