Thunderstorm causes flooding in parts of Metro Manila

Heavy rain caused by localized thunderstorms hit parts of Metro Manila on Friday afternoon.

According to JP Soriano’s report on “24 Oras,” knee-deep floods hit Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City due to the heavy rain that started around 5 p.m. and continued for 30 minutes.

A thunderstorm advisory, warning of strong winds and moderate to heavy rain showers, was issued by the weather bureau PAGASA for Metro Manila and several provinces.

In the next 24 hours, Batanes will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line, PAGASA said in its 4 p.m. weather forecast.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Flash floods or landslides may occur because of the two weather systems. — Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
