Taxi driver shot after refusing passenger in Quezon City

A taxi driver was shot in Quezon City after refusing to give a ride to a passenger.

According to James Agustin’s report on Unang Balita on Thursday, the incident happened in Mindanao Avenue where the passenger hailed the taxi.

The passenger asked the driver to bring him to Cubao, but the driver allegedly refused. According to police, the passenger then banged on the vehicle.

Col. Richard Mepania, Project 6 Police Station Commander.

Traffic enforcers nearby saw the incident and asked help from police after the victim was shot in the chest.

The 64-year-old suspect was then arrested. Recovered from the suspect is a loaded caliber 357 revolver.

Based on the initial investigation, the gun was licensed and the suspect has a permit to carry firearms outside residence.

“We will be requesting the firearms and explosives office to revoke ‘yung kanyang lisensya,” said Mepanya.

The suspect admitted shooting the driver but claimed that it was in self-defense.

Charges of frustrated homicide will be filed against the suspect. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
