Suspected Korean criminal group leader nabbed in Makati

Authorities nabbed a Korean man suspected to be the leader of a criminal group that stole almost P80 million from their victims.

In John Consulta’s exclusive report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the Korean attempted to escape from his condo in Makati City but the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit cornered him.

The Bureau said since the suspect is a suspected leader of a criminal group in South Korea, their personnel and counterparts in South Korea subsequently launched their operations.

(The suspect in Manila might learn of our operation if the suspects in South Korea were arrested. So, we prioritized arresting the one in Manila before arresting his accomplices in South Korea.)

He added that the Korean fugitive and his accomplices earned over 2 billion South Korean won by applying for loans and showing fake collateral statements.

(We have an ongoing clerance if the suspect is invloved in local cases before deporting him back to South Korea.)
