A suspect was arrested on Friday over the killing of his former live-in partner in Caloocan City, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
In a statement, the NCRPO said the 22-year-old suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation in Tanza, Cavite around 2 a.m.
Police said the suspect stabbed and killed the 22-year-old victim, identified as Marian Angeline Manaois, in front of a restaurant on Loreto Street, Barangay 85, Bagong Barrio in Caloocan on Wednesday at around 7:20 p.m.
The suspect stabbed Manaois multiple times and fled northwards on EDSA heading for Quezon City, according to the police.
Manaois was brought to MCU Hospital but she was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Police believed the suspect stabbed the victim in a fit of jealousy.
The suspect is in the custody of Caloocan police as authorities prepare the necessary documents for an immediate inquest proceeding.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the family of the victim. While no action can undo the pain of this loss, I want them to know that we are fully committed to securing justice in her name,” said NCRPO chief Police Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“As we move forward, I want the public to know that the NCRPO remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace and order across the region. We will continue to act with diligence and integrity in safeguarding the well-being of our communities,” he added. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
