Snatcher steals bag through car’s open window

Two men stole a bag from a moving car along the southbound C-5 Road in Taguig past 7 p.m. last week.

In a report by Vonne Aquino on “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday, the snatchers were seen running through slow-moving traffic up to a white car. While one of them was seen running to the driver’s side, the other man went up to the passenger’s seat window, reached in and snatched the bag, then hastily fled.

“Yung takbo lang nila kasi mabagal pa eh tapos ‘yun po nakita namin biglang bumilis yung takbo nila eh hindi naman po namin alam kung ta-targetin po nila ‘yung nakaputing sasakyan,” MJ Canta, who witnessed the incident, told GMA Integrated News.

(At first, they were running slowly, then they sped up. We did not expect them to target the white car.)

The Taguig police are investigating the incident. They are also backtracking the CCTV footage in the area of the incident to catch the snatchers.

“Yung Taguig PNP [Philippine National Police] po ay nag-adjust ng deployment ng patrol doon sa area. Mas dinagdagan natin and ‘yung area po kung saan nangyari nagdagdag ng personnel doon,” said Taguig Police Public Information Officer Major Cherry Agtarap.

(The Taguig PNP adjusted the deployment of our patrols in the area. We added our personnel along the area of the incident.)

The Taguig Police also urged the victims to file a complaint against the snatchers.

“Maging aware po tayo sa kapaligiran natin at yung mga bintana po ng sasakyan natin huwag po nating bubuksan kasi kahit umaandar ‘yan may mga nakaabang po talaga,” the Taguig Police reminded motorists.

(Let us be aware of our surroundings and do not leave your windows open even if your cars are moving because there will be those waiting for an opportunity.) — Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
