San Juan remembers late Vice Mayor Warren Villa on feast of St. John the Baptist

A Mass was held on Saturday at the City of San Juan in celebration of the Feast of St. John the Baptist, and in commemoration of the passing of Vice Mayor Warren Villa.

The Mass, held at the Saint John the Baptist Parish, was attended by Mayor Francis Zamora, the Villa family, and several San Juan City constituents.

“His motto, his battle cry, ‘God must increase and I must decrease.’ Today, though Brother Warren has decreased himself in front of God, I assure his loved ones that he is now elevated with God,” said Mass presider Father Mike Kalaw.

“Everyone here knows how well he served our city, how hard he works for each and every one of us. We want to remember him as a real public servant who not only served our people, but served the Lord. We know he is in a better place now,” Zamora said in his speech.

Despite his passing, Inah Manalang, Villa’s wife, said she and her family felt peace and comfort knowing that Villa had joined the Creator.

The Basbasan sa Makabagong San Juan took place after the Mass.

Zamora said the procession of the image of St. John the Baptist, as well as other festivities were rescheduled to next week.

The remains of Villa will be open for public viewing at the San Juan City Hall until noon on Sunday before being laid to rest at the San Juan Cemetery.
