San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora on Monday said he intends to talk to a male resident who went viral for his unruly behavior against a delivery rider during the Wattah Wattah Festival.
“Siya ngayon ang bagong mukha ng Wattah Wattah Festival at nakakalungkot at nakakagalit,” said Zamora in Jun Veneracion’s “24 Oras” report.
(He has become the face of Wattah Wattah Festival. It’s sad and angering.)
“Papapatawag ko siya at ka kausapin ko siya personally. Sisiguruhin ko na matuto ng leksyon yung masakit na leksyon na maalala nya habambuhay nya para hindi na nya ulit-ulit,” Zamora said.
(I will summon and talk to him personally. We would make sure he would learn his lesson for the rest of his life.)
The resident has yet to show up at his address but several online delivery orders were being sent to his residence, the report said. The orders were believed to be purchased by individuals who were irked by his unruly behavior.
“Kami po muli ay umaapela na ang talagang apektado dito ay mga riders na nagtatrabaho ng maayos at bumubuhay sa kanilang pamilya. Sana itigil na itong pagpapadala ng kahit ano man,” said Barangay Balong Bato Chairperson Alvin Alonzo.

San Juan City held the annual Wattah Wattah Festival on Monday, June 24, in honor of patron saint John the Baptist. The traditional water dousing is part of the day-long festivities.
However some residents went overboard and doused water on unwilling passers-by.
Zamora previously apologized over the reported chaos and inconveniences brought about by the annual tradition. He also said the city government will make some adjustments for the celebration of the festival.
A city ordinance prohibits individuals from forcibly opening vehicles to drench passengers. They are also not allowed to clamber on top of or shake vehicles. Zamora said they will address some loopholes in the measure.
