Residents, vendors affected by EDSA Greenways Project get livelihood assistance

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) provided livelihood assistance to at least 148 residents and vendors from Pasig, Quezon, and Makati cities affected by the EDSA Greenways Project.

Each affected resident and vendor were given P30,000 worth of rice, dressmaking and food packages for small eateries, and negosyo carts, the DOTr said in a statement on Saturday.

The EDSA Greenways Project is a 5-kilometer mass transit walkway along EDSA at Balintawak, Cubao, Guadalupe, and Taft stations.

The structures will be 5 meters wide, equipped with elevators and monitoring systems, and accessible to the elderly, pregnant women, young children, and persons with disabilities.

The project is supported by a $123-million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
