Continuous rains from successive typhoons left several streets in Quezon City flooded, with some residents watching out for snakes that reportedly come out with the floodwaters.
Among those flooded was Kaliraya Street in Barangay Tatalon, where youths continue to wade through the floodwater despite the health risks. An area in the barangay has been flooded for a week, with some cases of alipunga or athlete’s foot recorded.
Also flooded was Gumamela Street in Barangay Roxas, where residents have also been looking out for snakes.
“Dilaw na kulay niya eh, sawa siguro ‘yun… ‘yung haba niya isang dipa’t kalahati,” Maning Planta, a resident of the area, said in Vonne Aquino’s report on GMA’s “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.
(It was yellow in color, maybe it was a python. It was nine feet long.)
The floods have since subsided, but the country continues to experience rains brought by Typhoon Hanna (international name: Haikui), which is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility late Sunday or early Monday morning. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA Integrated News
