Authorities in Quezon City discovered that an auto spa that was supposed to have been closed for nearly five months has continued to remain in operation.
In a 24 Oras report on Tuesday, Kapuso Action Man Emil Sumangil disclosed the company’s closure order has been renewed after reports that the auto spa is still open and accepting clients.
In September 2023, the Quezon City local government shut down the Kuruma Autospa located along Zabarte Road in Barangay Kaligayahan, District 5 due to several violations stemming from noxious fumes and dust coming from it.
“Nagkaroon po kasi ng reklamo dahil sa amoy ng pintura na ginagamit nila atsaka yung alikabok na idinudulot ng pagliliha ng sasakyan. Primarily po ang violation wala silang permit,” said Jay Hebrew, Officer-In-Charge, Enforcement Section, Business Permits and Licensing Department (QC BPLD).
(We received complaints because of the paint fumes as well as the dust resulting from sanding the cars. Their primary violation is that they don’t have a permit.)
After receiving a video that the auto spa was still operating, the QC BPLD immediately conducted an inspection, holding a mission order to fix the re-implementation of the closure order.
“Naka-lock po ang Kuruma. Car Life Support po ang kinatatayuan niyo ngayon,” the owner said in his shop’s defense during a phone call.
(Karuma is locked. We are now Car Life Support.)
QC officials said this is the third implementation of the closure order for the auto spa, as they are not allowed to operate because they are required to have a special use permit.
GMA Integrated News tried to get the side of the owner of the establishment, Josephel Palladio, but he declined to give his statement in front of the camera.
During a conversation with Palladio, he mentioned that he will work with the QC LGU to submit all the requirements as soon as possible.
According to QC BPLD, Car Life Support Incorporated has seven days to comply.
“Gugulong po ang report na gagawin namin. Magkakaroon ulit ng show cause order, magkakaroon ng cease and desist hanggang sa umabot ulit sa closure,” a BPLD official said.
