PNP vows thorough investigation of Taguig Police Station shooting

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the fatal shooting incident at the Taguig City Police Station recently.

On August 7, Police Chief Master Sergeant Alraquib Aguel allegedly ran amok at the police station and shot Police Executive Master Sergeant Heriberto Saguiped after a heated argument.

Aguel also shot Police Corporal Alison Sindac, who attempted to pacify the situation. Another cop shot Aguel for fear that the suspect might harm other police officers.

Saguiped was declared dead on arrival in the hospital. Sindac and Aguel were both in critical condition.

After initial investigation, the PNP said it would “focus on the individual demeanor caused by underlying medical conditions that appear to have precipitated this unfortunate event.”

The PNP asked the public for understanding and patience as they handle the case.

“We ardently appeal to the public for their understanding and patience as we navigate this situation. Rest assured, the PNP’s pledge to transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of justice stands unshaken.” the PNP said.
