The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday that administrative and criminal charges will be filed against the three cops who caused a commotion at a bar in Quezon City over the weekend.
“We want to send a clear message to our men that no one is above the law. Kung tayo ang nagpapatupad ng batas, tayo rin dapat ang unang sumusunod dito,” said PNP acting chief Lt. General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. in a statement.
(If we are the ones enforcing the law, we should also be the first ones to follow it.)
“Sisiguraduhin natin na masasampahan ng kaso ang mga pulis na ito. They must be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
(We will ensure that charges are filed against these police officers. They must be held accountable for their actions.)
The PNP said that authorities responded to a 911 call and found several broken liquor bottles at the scene. Witnesses identified the three cops as the culprits. The three suspects were arrested, informed of their rights, and processed, with authorities confiscating their two loaded 9mm pistols and police IDs.
The arrested cops are under investigation and will face due process in accordance with the PNP regulations and the law, the PNP said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
