PNP looking for Filipino suspects in fatal kidnap-for-ransom

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is looking for Filipino suspects who are allegedly involved in the killing and kidnapping of a man in Quezon City.

According to  Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras” on Monday, the PNP earlier nabbed three Chinese and one Vietnamese in connection with the fatal kidnap-for-ransom.

“May mga pangalan na po na hawak ang AKG (Anti-Kidnapping Group) at yan po yung tinutunton po nila,” PNP spokesperson Police Col. Jean Fajardo said.

(The AKG has a list of names and they are now searching for their whereabouts.)

Fajardo declined to give further details on the suspects as the manhunt is currently ongoing.

She said a syndicate could have been behind the crime as it was not the first time the modus was reported.

“Maaaring tong grupo nato ay siya ring may kinalaman dun sa mga previous kidnapping case kung saan ay pinuputulan nila ng parte ng katawan kagaya ng daliri po at yun po yung pinapadala nga po sa pamilya,” Fajardo said.

The PNP-AKG said the suspects asked the victim’s family for a P10 million ransom after he was forced into a vehicle along Roosevelt Avenue on March 18.

Despite their initial payments, the victim was found dead in Tanza, Cavite on March 22 with his head wrapped in duct tape and one of the toes missing.

Fajardo said the PNP would continuously coordinate with the Filipino-Chinese community, saying they are “on top of the situation” of the kidnapping cases. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
