PICC CCP Complex bomb threat false, says police

Authorities said the bomb threat that was reported at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on Friday afternoon has been proven to be false after a joint investigation was conducted.

The bomb threat was reported by Rommel Magbanua, PICC security manager, at 12:20 p.m. on Friday.

Magbanua said that Marlon Fabricante, head of the Administrative Services Division (ASD) of the National Privacy Commission, saw a comment on their Facebook page by a certain Angelo Iglesias that said, “Time bomb set on your building starts now.”

Police Major Remedios Terte, ACOPO, Pasay City Police Station, SWAT-EOD personnel and the Station EOD Canine Unit personnel responded to the call and made a thorough search of the five-story building and its vicinity.

One Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) from Regional EOD and Canine Unit (RECU) was used in the search of the premises and no explosive or destructive material/substance was found.

The case was then referred to the SIDMB or Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch for investigation.

The police reminded the public to remain calm and vigilant.

The Pasay CPS, in a statement, assured the public that they are continuously monitoring the situation to ensure everyone’s safety and security. — BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
