The high-end sedan that figured in what was initially thought of as a case of road rage has been established as a stolen car.
According to Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras,” it turned out that the sedan’s owner spotted the stolen vehicle and had it rear-ended by his driver after a chase in Pasay City.
The occupant of the BMW then shot the Honda Odyssey used by the car’s owner.
Both the alleged car thief and the owner of the car were Chinese citizens.
In Chino Gaston’s Monday report on 24 Oras, the Chinese man found Saturday the thief of the luxury sedan he was selling, which was also a Chinese man.
“Binunggo ng Honda Odyssey yung BMW at doon na nagkaroon ng trigger yung occupant ng BMW at pinutukan yung Honda Odyssey,” said Police Colonel Samuel Pabonita, chief of the Pasay City Police Station.
(The Honda Odyssey hit the BMW and caused the occupant of the BMW to shoot at the Honda Odyssey.)
The police said the owner of the stolen vehicle hit the BMW on purpose to stop it.
Two bullets hit the Honda Odyssey‘s windshield and back door. Its front was also smashed when colliding with the BMW.
Authorities confiscated two 9mm pistol handguns and a replica assault rifle from the suspects.
The three involved individuals are detained in the Pasay Detention Center.
“Kinasuhan na natin sila, na inquest na natin kahapon. Yung violation doon sa ating RA 10591 sa carnapping, sa bladed weapon. Meron din tayong alarm and scandal, reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property,” Pabonita said.
(We filed charges against them. They also underwent an inquest yesterday. They have violated RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act. They are also facing charges for carnapping, alarm and scandal, and reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.)
Authorities also arrested another individual involved in the shooting in Parañaque.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey denied that they fired back against the car thief.
“Bibilhin sana yung BMW sa kanya. Parang test drive tas hindi na binalik. Binaril po kami,” the driver said.
(The car thief was supposed to buy the BMW. They did a test drive but never returned it. They shot us.)
