Motorcycle rider threatens, robs 12-year-old in Taguig

Authorities are looking for a motorcycle rider who intimidated, threatened, and robbed a 12-year-old boy in Barangay Calzada, Taguig City.

According to Ian Cruz’s “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, the incident happened just before 6 a.m. The child—seen on CCTV footage wearing a school uniform—said he was walking to pick up a classmate when the rider approached him.

The rider asked him about some people he knew. Then the rider said he wanted the boy to go with him, and told him to get on the motorcycle.

CCTV footage showed the motorcycle going up a street and turning right onto another street, where it stopped. The boy got off and the motorcycle left, with the rider tucking away an item.

The victim, who was still in fear when he was reporting the incident, said the rider took his cellphone, supposedly to contact the person he was looking for.

The victim said as he was dropped off, the suspect threatened to shoot him if he shouted for help and left without returning his cell phone.

As he accessed his Messenger through a different gadget, the victim found that the suspect introduced himself as “Jayson” from “Romantic” to the alleged acquaintance.

According to the victim’s mother, it was her son’s first time bringing a cell phone, which he was going to use for an “open exam.”

She said her son was very scared as he kept repeating that the suspect would kill him.

They have sought help from barangay personnel. The Violence Against Women and their Children desk of Barangay Calzada is coordinating with the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office to provide counseling for the victim.

Barangay Calzada personnel also assisted the victim and his mother in filing a formal complaint with the Taguig police.

“Ang kapal naman ng mukha mo tsaka kung may konsensiya ka pakibalik yung cellphone. Two days pa lang nahahawakan ng anak ko yun. Kung sa bagay kung di mo man ibalik, hindi mo rin magagamit dahil ipapa-block namin,” the victim mother’s said.

(How dare you. If you have a conscience, please return my son’s phone. He has only had it for two days. But even if you don’t return it, you still cannot use it since we will block it.) — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
