The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to issue a notice of violation against the construction company in charge of the LRT1 North Extension-Common Station Project for the traffic it allegedly caused on EDSA in Quezon City on Saturday.
According to a copy of the MMDA notice of violation shared by Super Radyo dzBB reporter Luisito Santos on Twitter, the company will be cited for “obstruction causing traffic congestion.”
On Saturday, motorists on the EDSA northbound lanes in Quezon City were caught in heavy traffic after all the lanes were closed due to the construction activity for the common station.
Only a zipper lane — the EDSA Carousel Bus lane — was opened to vehicles , according to a report by Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.
The notice of violation, signed by MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Assistant Secretary David Angelo Vargas, orders the construction company to stop its construction activities immediately, appear before the MMDA within 24 hours from receipt of the notice, and expect imposition of penalty.
The name of the construction company was not given by the MMDA. —KG, GMA Integrated News
