A wheelchair lift will be constructed for persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the viral ramp on EDSA Busway’s PhilAm station in Quezon City, said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
This is to address the controversy regarding the particular ramp which has been found too steep for wheelchair users.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Friday, the MMDA said the wheelchair lift is set to be built within a month by the contractors, who will also shoulder the cost.
The ramp will no longer be used and it will be leveled for senior citizens and other individuals who cannot use stairs.
The ramp has gone viral on social media and netizens criticized it as it is overly steep and dangerous for PWDs. — Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA Integrated News
