A traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was injured early Sunday morning after being caught in an accident along the EDSA Busway in Quezon City.
The MMDA enforcer identified as Gilbert Merjiña admitted that he fell asleep while driving his motorcycle due to exhaustion, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.
He was one of the MMDA personnel deployed to man the traffic for the Sunday basketball match of the FIBA World Cup 2023 which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum.
The accident took place at around 4 a.m. along EDSA near Santolan, northbound.
The victim hit the concrete barrier of the EDSA Busway and sustained injuries on his right knee.
