Marikina River level hits first alarm

Water level at the Marikina River reached first alarm on Thursday morning due to heavy rain in the previous hours.

In an advisory on Facebook, Marikina City’s Public Information Office said the river’s water level reached 15.7 meters as of 7 a.m.

Under the city’s alarm level system, residents must prepare to evacuate under a first alarm.

Second alarm, meanwhile, is raised when water level reaches 16 meters. This means residents must evacuate.

Third alarm, meaning forced evacuation, is raised when the water level reaches 18 meters. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
