Marikina River back to normal water level

The water level at Marikina River went back to normal level on Friday following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, which heavily hit Luzon in the past days.

As of 3 p.m., the Marikina Public Information Office said the water level is at 14.7 meters.

The Marikina River was on second alarm since Thursday evening after the water level breached the 16 meter-mark.

Later on Friday morning, it was downgraded to first alarm as the water level went down to around 15 meters.

Government work and classes at all levels in Luzon were suspended on Friday as tropical cyclone wind signals were hoisted in several areas in the island.

Kristine is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility later in the day. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
