A man was stabbed and killed at the Baseco Compound in Manila on Friday, a killing that police believed had something do with illegal drugs.
According to Nicole Waje’s Sunday 24 Oras Weekend report, two men were seen arguing at the Baseco Compound at around 10:45 p.m. on Friday.
One of men appeared to be trying to take something from the pocket of the other man who was wearing a black shirt.
One of the men suddenly took out a knife and stabbed the man in a black shirt, who tried to fight back.
But the knife-wielding attacker kept stabbing until the man in black collapsed.
The suspect flipped the collapsed victim on his back before walking away.
The victim, identified as Romeo Raneses, was pronounced dead.
“Ito hong suspek may kinukuha sa biktima at makikita, lumalabas po sa initial investigation po e doon sa area may nakita pong isang tube na ginagamit sa meth o suspected shabu. Nakita po natin sa kanya yun,” said Baseco Police Station Commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Gomez.
With the help of CCTVs, the suspect was identified. Police said the suspect was notorious in the area for committing various crimes.
“Meron po siyang pagbebenta po ng droga, ng solvent. Meron din po siyang panghoholdap. Nai-involve po sa series of robberies po. At ito pong huli meron po yang asuntong at kalalabas lang po,” said Gomez.
When the suspect was arrested at his house, he was still cleaning the blood from the stabbing.
The suspect was in the custody of the Manila Police Homicide Section and would be charged with murder.
The suspect had yet to issue a statement on the matter. — Sherylin Untalan/DVM, GMA Integrated News
