Jad Dera, the detainee who was recently arrested after leaving the detention facility of the National Bureau of Investigation, has been transferred to the Muntinlupa City Jail.
According to John Consulta’s exclusive report on Unang Balita, Dera was officially turned over to the Muntinlupa City Jail at 7:11 p.m. on Thursday.
Dera left the NBI facility past 6 p.m. and was guarded by numerous NBI agents during the transfer.
The Muntinlupa Court ordered Dera’s transfer after the Department of Justice (DOJ) made the request after Dera was caught leaving the NBI facility.
Dera and several NBI security personnel were nabbed in June after he allegedly went out on a date with his escorts in tow.
During a Senate hearing, Dera admitted that he was able to leave the NBI facility multiple times, and only one of those trips had a court order.
He said he was able to leave the NBI’s detention facility on January 20, 2022 to have himself checked in a hospital in Manila which was authorized by a court order dated December 10, 2021.
Dera also admitted that he was able to leave the detention facility for the second time to go to another hospital and have his heart checked, but this time he had no approval from the court.
The third time that he was able to leave the NBI was on Father’s Day this year and the fourth time was on June 20, reportedly for a date, where he and five NBI jail guards were nabbed.
Dera also confirmed claims that he was also able to go to Calatagan, Batangas and being able to go to Tagaytay City with other NBI officers.
The Department of Justice said it is “hellbent on making heads roll” over what happened.
Dera is facing a charge of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and has been detained at the NBI jail since 2019. He is also facing murder charges. —Joahna Lei Casilao/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
