Fire hits residential area in Mandaluyong City

A fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City on Sunday morning.

The fire started past 6 a.m., according to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.

The affected area includes Block 32 Extension, where residents were seen carrying pails of water to help douse the fire. 

Thick black smoke could be seen even from EDSA.

The Bureau of Fire Protection has raised the fourth alarm before 7:30 a.m., then the fifth alarm at 7:50 a.m.

The fire quickly spread since most of the houses were made of light materials. The houses were also built closely to each other in the compound.

Personnel of Manila Electric Co. cut the power line in the area to ensure the safety of residents and firemen. —KG, GMA Integrated News
