Fire hits residential and commercial building in Quiapo

A fire broke out at a residential and commercial building in Quiapo, Manila on Wednesday morning.

The fire started past 6 a.m. on the third floor of a three-storey building on Globo de Oro Street, according to a report by Super Radyo dzBB reporter Manny Vargas on Unang Balita.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the second alarm.

The fourth floor of the extension building behind the three-storey building also caught fire.

Firemen were able to put out the fire at around 8 a.m.

According to BFP-Manila, the fire started in one of the units on the third floor of the three-storey building.

No one has been hurt, according to the BFP and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The BFP is still conducting mopping up operations and determining the cause of the fire.

Thirty families were affected by the fire, BFP-Manila said.

Meanwhile, the northbound lanes of Quezon Boulevard from Carlos Palanca Street down to Quezon Bridge were closed to motorists as firetrucks occupied the lanes. —KG, GMA Integrated News
