Fire hits cold storage facility on FPJ Avenue, QC

A fire broke out early Monday morning in a cold storage facility located along Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue in Barangay Del Monte, Quezon City.

The fire started before 3 a.m. and is currently on first alarm, based on an Unang Balita report of James Agustin.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), they received a call at 3:22 a.m. and raised the first alarm at 3:28 a.m.

At least ten fire trucks were deployed in the area to respond to the incident, aside from fire volunteer groups.

The cause of the fire is also still being identified. No employee was reportedly inside the facility when the fire broke out.

Parts of the cold storage facility were visibly damaged, including the roof and walls.

The BFP is also monitoring a gasoline station near the burning establishment.

Motorists who will pass the FPJ Avenue going to Quezon Avenue were advised to expect heavy traffic. Vehicles were being diverted in a part of Osmeña Street because of the number of fire trucks responding to the fire. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
