A 27-year-old man allegedly posing as a dentist and offering braces in exchange for sex was nabbed in an entrapment operation in Malabon, according to Mark Salazar’s report on “24 Oras.”
The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested the suspect on Friday, January 26, 2023 after two minors reported him to authorities.
“Online predator ito na naghihintay na may mabiktima na bata. Ang pang-akit nya dahil nagpapanggap siyang dental technician na maayos ang kanilang ngipin sa pamamagitan ng braces. So nakita nya itong dalawang bata na ito,” said Police Colonel Jay Guillermo, chief of Cyber Response Unit of the PNP-ACG.
The complainants said aside from not installing their braces, the suspect also uploaded sensitive videos of the minors.
“Meron na yang hawak sayo ‘yan, ibig sabihin, prior sa hihingian ka ng pera meron na siyang hawak like nudity, sexual activity in front of camera tapos gagawin niya pananakot, may extortion para hindi ire-release so mapipilitan ka magbigay ng pera o sexual favor,” he added.
GMA Integrated News tried to get the suspect’s statement but the PNP did not allow him to face the media.
The authorities said this is not the first online sex predator they arrested.
“Nagmamanman ‘yan sa internet, nagmamanman sa social media tinitingnan niyan ang profile ng mga biktima lalo na kung profile mo ay public open to scrutiny open for evaluation, titingnan nila profile mo yan ang una sa taong gagawa ng masama lalo na tinitingnan nila kabataan,” said Guillermo.
He also reminded the parents to watch and guide their children, especially in using social media to prevent such incidents.
The PNP-ACG added that parents and the public can report through their web pages and social media accounts if they encounter predators online. —Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
