A couple was arrested for running a shop manufacturing fake vehicle plates, according to a “24 Oras” report by Emil Sumangil.
Members of the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) discovered the area in V. Luna in Quezon City where one can avail of car plates as well as counterfeit “Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR)” of vehicles.
During the operation, the couple sold the fake OR-CR and car plate to the police, who posed as buyer for P60,000.
Pieces of evidences were confiscated in the shop such copies of the fake OR-CR.
The suspects, Guerero and Rowena Guerero are also facing charges for carnapping. They did not issue any statement.
“Ito po ‘yung karaniwang contact ng mga sindikatong hinahanap natin sa mga nawawalang sasakyan. …’Yung OR-CR, nagagawan nila ng paraan ‘yan, it will appear as original, ibinebenta yun sa mga kasabwat nila sa sindikato,” Police Colonel Joel Casupanan, regional chief of HPG-National Capital Region, said.
Police are investigating the possible accomplices of the suspects in the illegal activity, including personnel from the Land Transportation Office.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
