Commuters were forced to walk after a collision between two trailer trucks on Delpan Bridge in Tondo, Manila caused an 11-hour traffic jam since Wednesday night.
According to Chino Gaston’s report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, the accident caused traffic along the bridge’s northbound lane.
“Male-late na po kami sa trabaho namin,” said worker Angel Villacer who had to endure a long walk going to Baseco area.
(We have no choice because we’re going to be late for work.)
“Abala na po sa ano itong traffic, siyempre ang trabaho natin apektado talaga,” said Alvin Singcol.
(This traffic is very inconvenient for us. This will affect our work.)
The driver of the 18-wheeler truck said that his vehicle didn’t make it through the slippery roads on Wednesday evening.
“Umuulan po noon, dumulas po ako rito eh. Mabigat din po karga, hindi po kinaya ng preno,” said Jeffrey Martin.
(It was raining when my truck slipped. My truck’s load was also heavy, so my brake didn’t handle all of it.)
Meanwhile, the other driver said that the other truck was reversing when it hit his truck.
The accident also led to traffic along the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard.
Authorities were able to tow away the two trucks at 10 a.m. on Thursday and the Bureau of Fire Protection also cleared the road from the oil leak. —Vince Ferreras/NB, GMA Integrated News
