Chinese man arrested for robbery in Pasay — SPD

Authorities arrested a Chinese man for allegedly robbing, detaining, and intimidating a fellow Chinese citizen in a condominium in Pasay City, the Southern Police District (SPD) reported Tuesday.

In a statement, the SPD said two male Chinese perpetrators detained the victim in a condominium unit on Monday and intimidated him using an electric taser and a knife.

The suspects stole P15,000 in cash from the victim.

“The victim managed to send a message to a friend seeking help, who immediately called the 911 emergency hotline to report the crime,” the SPD said.

Upon arriving, authorities found that the 33-year-old victim escaped the suspects and was waiting in a different unit.

Upon confirming their identities from the victim, authorities located and arrested one of the suspects.

They also recovered the electric taser and knife believed to be used during the robbery.

One of the suspects, a 37-year-old male, was brought to a police station for proper documentation before going to the Pasay City General Hospital for medical and physical examination.

In a statement, the SPD described his arrest as “a case of robbery with threat and intimidation.”

He is set to undergo further investigation and inquest proceedings.

Meanwhile, the other suspect remains at large.

“This case highlights the critical importance of our partnership with the community and our commitment to a fast and effective response to emergency calls,” said Police Brigadier General Randy Arceo, SPD acting district director.

“When citizens report incidents through our 911 system, we are able to respond swiftly and abruptly to protect lives and bring criminals to justice,” he added. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
