7 passengers hurt after jeepney rams into barriers along Commonwealth Ave.

At least seven passengers sustained injuries after the jeepney they were riding rammed several concrete and plastic barriers along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Monday night.

According to EJ Gomez’s “Saksi” report, four of the seven passengers were brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

The accident occurred past 8 p.m. after witnesses said the fast moving jeepney was trying to cut other vehicles in a crowded lane before it ran head on into the barriers.

The driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and multiple injuries.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, a concrete barrier costs P6,500 while a plastic barrier is worth P4,200.

According to a witness, the jeepney was moving fast while it was in the middle of a taxi, on its left, and another jeep, on its right.

Another witness said road accidents could be avoided if there are streetlights, as about eight motorists have previously been involved in road accidents in the area.
