A five-year-old child in Taguig City died after getting hit by a passing truck, according to Chino Gaston’s report on “Saksi.”
The accident occurred about 9 a.m. when a white truck was passing through Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Maharlika, Taguig City then a child suddenly ran across the road.
The child, Abdulaziz Langiban, who lives near the area, died on the spot. The driver immediately surrendered when the responders from the barangay arrived.
The victim’s father, however, could not say why his child was outside the house.
Although the family acknowledged it was an accident, they still said the truck driver, Roniel Silvoza, was responsible for the child’s death.
The victim’s mother, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait, wants to bring Abdulaziz home and bury him in their province in Cotabato. The family called for the truck driver to cover the cost.
Meanwhile, the truck driver explained that he didn’t notice the child.
“Humihingi po ako ng tawad sa mga magulang ng biktima. Maraming nakaparada dun sa gilid kaya nung tumawid hinid ko talaga siya nakita,” he said.
The truck is impounded at the Taguig Traffic Enforcement Unit while the victim’s family and truck owner is still in the process of settling the responsibility of their driver. — Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA Integrated News
