Four people sustained injuries after a car split in two after hitting a post and a steel gate in Taytay, Rizal, early Sunday morning.
According to EJ Gomez’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” the incident that was caught on CCTV occurred along Manila East Road in Barangay San Juan in Taytay, Rizal around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
The video footage showed the car was going fast then it slammed into a streetlight post before hitting a gate.
Three pedestrians nearby were nearly hit. One of them fell and rolled on the road, while the other two managed to run away.
The accident also damaged a parked motorcycle, which is owned by a security guard, as it was knocked over by the fallen gate.
Taytay Police said the crash was a “self-accident.”
As a result of the impact, the front portion of the car was crushed, the tires and seats were dislodged, the windshield was shattered, and the windows were broken.
The driver was hospitalized, while the three others involved were treated for minor injuries.
It took more than an hour for authorities to remove the vehicle and reopen the road to traffic.
