Fifteen elementary and high schools in Quezon City will push back the opening of their School Year 2024-2025 classes to August, the local government unit said on Saturday.
The 15 schools were affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon this week, the Quezon City government said in a Facebook post.
The following schools will start classes on August 1:
- Sto. Cristo Elementary School
- Balumbato Elementary School
- Cong. Reynaldo Calalay Elementary School
- Sinagtala Elementary School
- Odelco Elementary School
- San Francisco Elementary School
- Dalupan Elementary School
- Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School
- Rosa L. Susano Elementary School
- Josefa Jara Martinez High School
- Sta. Lucia High School
Meanwhile, below is the list of schools whose classes will start on August 5:
- Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School
- Masambong Elementary School
- Masambong High School
- Sergio Osmeña Senior High School
The rest of the public elementary and high schools in Quezon City will open on July 29, the LGU said.

At least 738 schools in four regions are set to postpone the opening of classes due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina which enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the Department of Education said Friday.
Some of these schools were affected by flooding while others were used as evacuation centers.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Friday that the July 29 opening of classes must proceed as much as possible, save for areas heavily damaged by Super Typhoon Carina and the Southwest Monsoon. —KG, GMA Integrated News
