A person deprived of liberty (PDL) died following a stabbing incident at the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Thursday.
Citing the report of NBP Acting Superintendent Corrections Chief Inspector Roger Boncales, BuCor said the incident happened at 7:15 a.m. at Gate 1-A, Quadrant 4 of the compound.
Meanwhile, two other PDLs were injured in the incident.
BuCor said it will not divulge the names of the PDLs involved in the incident until their families have been informed.
It said it is conducting an investigation on the incident.
Meanwhile, the BuCor headquarters ordered all superintendents of all operating prison and penal farms (OPPFs) to take precautionary measures.
“To prevent any untoward incident while the incident is being investigated, the Bucor Headquarters directed all superintendents of OPPFs to take precautionary measures at their respective OPPFs to ensure the safety of both PDLs and staff,” it said.
