MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will convene members of his Cabinet on Saturday to discuss the possible release of their Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), Malacañang said Friday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after several key government officials voluntarily released copies of their SALNs amid the largest corruption scandal haunting the Marcos administration.
“The Cabinet members will talk about this tomorrow. I think they will have a meeting on this,” Castro said about the release of SALNs of Cabinet members.
When asked if the President would voluntarily release his SALNs, Castro said, “Let us see what’s proper.”
Last week, Marcos said he was willing to make his SALN available to anyone who requests it, as part of the government’s effort to restore transparency and accountability.
“We will follow the old rules,’ Marcos said. “These old rules were suspended in the last administration, where the SALN was — it was much easier to get a copy of the SALN and to examine it.”
