Man flees checkpoint, nabbed for gun, drugs

SUBIC, Zambales — A man who fled a checkpoint was nabbed after a chase by personnel of Subic Municipal Police Station along GOVIC Highway in Barangay Naugsol here dawn of Friday, Sept. 1.

Police identified the suspect as Christopher Padilla y Gardoque, 41, of Purok 6B, Barangay Calapacuan, Subic.

Report said that personnel of Subic MPS led by Capt. Anthony Soria were manning a Comelec checkpoint along GOVIC Highway, Barangay Mangan-Vaca, when the suspect riding a motorcycle without helmet was flagged down for inspection.  Instead of stopping, the suspect accelerated and fled, leading the police to chase and catch up with him in Barangay Naugsol.

Confiscated from the suspect were one Smith and Wesson .38 revolver with defaced serial number, six .38 live ammunitions, 15 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, three P1,000 bills, one pair of scissors, one disposable lighter, one bundle plastic sachets, one black coin purse, one khaki sling bag; and one Honda TMX 125 black motorcycle without plate number.

The suspected shabu contained in the 15 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets weighed 39 grams worth P265,200.

The suspect is now locked up in jail facing charges for disobedience, violation of RA 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009), violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), violation of BP 881 (Omnibus Election Code) and violation of Sec. 11 under Art. II of RA 9165 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs).
